Help for the people of Detroit coping with the fallout of the current economic crisis comes from the unlikely pairing of Geshe Michael Roach, Buddhist Monk and author of the best-selling book, The Diamond Cutter, The Buddha on Managing Your Business and Your Life, and John Foley, performance expert and former lead solo pilot of the Navy’s Blue Angel flight demonstration squadron. Geshe Michael and John Foley will offer a two-night experience, which will encourage and provide solutions, especially for those rebuilding businesses and careers. The talks are absolutely free; no strings attached, and are aimed at helping us all get the economy moving.

Two lives of great accomplishment from opposite ends of the social spectrum come together for an inside look into personal success and fearlessness. Their message is applicable not only to professional endeavors, but also to an individual’s personal quest for excellence.

The event also marks the release of the 10th Anniversary Edition of The Diamond Cutter, as well as the long-awaited sequel to the work, Karmic Management. Members of the audience will receive a free copy of The Fighter Pilot and the Monk: Fearless Success in Business and Life, which includes parts of both books.

Geshe Michael Roach is the first American to be awarded the title of geshe, or master of Buddhism, after 20 years of study in a Tibetan monastery. He helped found Andin International Diamond Corporation and take it to $100 million dollars in annual sales. He is also an honors graduate of Princeton University and has received the Presidential Scholar Medallion from the president of the United States.

John Foley, in addition to his achievements as a Navy fighter pilot, is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and holds advanced degrees in Business Management, from the Stanford Graduate School of Business (where he was a Sloan Fellow); in International Policy Studies, from Stanford University; and in Strategic Studies, from the Naval War College. He is the founder and president of the CenterPoint Companies, which provides business performance training to Fortune 500 corporations, professional associations, and educational organizations around the world.
